Changes from 19th July 2021 - Covid precautions

We are still waiting on England Squash to confirm their recommendations on what is permissible from Monday the 19th of July. There will be a separate update on this when we get the details.

Here is a general update for the club:

We all look forward to the relaxing of restrictions on Monday the 19th of July. We also understand that the responsibility for deciding what we do to keep safe moves from the Government to individuals and venues.

We are aware that the number of people in the York area testing positive for Covid is returning to levels last seen at the height of the pandemic. Wigginton squash club has now also seen the first occurrences of members catching covid and other members being required to isolate as result of coming in contact. It is for this reason we are proposing the following.

After the 19th of July and until the number of York cases reduce we would strongly recommend all members and guests wear masks while moving around the club, especially at peak times when the bar is open. The bar staff and committee members will not be policing this and we understand there will be times where people forget. The purpose of setting out our expectations is to ensure there is no confusion if the point is raised by anyone in the club.

Please note: Bar Staff have also been asked to wear masks when serving and moving around the club.

We would also ask everyone to continue to use the hand sanitisers provided and login via the app when they enter the premises.

We would also strongly recommend people get tested if they have any symptoms and we insist you do not come to the club if you are asked to isolate, receive a positive test or don’t feel well.

We are looking forward to seeing more people back at the club and we hope our recommendations ensure everyone appreciates this is a safe place to come.
